Group classes are held at our Pasadena location:
2515 E. Washington Blvd. Pasadena, CA 91104
2515 E. Washington Blvd. Pasadena, CA 91104
STUDENT PROGRESSION SCHEDULE:
Prospective students and first-time fencers are recommended to begin with an introductory private lesson covering the foundations of On Guard, Advance, Retreat, Lunge, and the basics of distance and bouting with one of our coaches.
Our Introductory group class is a one-hour class meeting once or twice a week, developing core technique and building an understanding of the central tenets of fencing. Students will use practice equipment provided by the studio. This class is primarily for students ages 5-15.
When the coach determines a student is ready to advance (typically after 1-3 months depending on the student's motivation and ability), the coach will guide them in purchasing their own set of competitive gear and move them up to a more in-depth class.
Youth/Intermediate Class (Mondays and Wednesdays 4:30-5:30 pm): For students who are looking to pursue competitive fencing. Full equipment is required and classes will go more in depth on strategy, mental preparedness, and advanced techniques. Primarily for students under 13.
Y10/Y12 Competitive Class (Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8pm): For experienced competitive fencers looking to hone their skills with a strong focus on both physical conditioning and bouting practice. This is a 2hr class meeting twice a week. Coach invitation and Silver Elite membership is required.
Advanced Class (Mondays and Wednesdays 6:30-7:30pm, Saturdays 10-11am): For students competing on the national/international level. Footwork, conditioning, drills, mental skills training, tactical discussion and goal setting all figure into the curriculum.
EXPERIENCED FENCERS:
Prospective students with prior fencing experience are recommended to start with a private 1-on-1 lesson with one of our coaches. This allows us to evaluate their fencing level and make the best class and training recommendations.
ADULTS:
At this time we do not have any group classes for adult fencers. Fencers of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to join with an Open Floor membership and train with 1-on-1 private lessons with our coaches.
*Adult group classes may be offered if we confirm enough interest. Please inquire by email.
