Congratulations to all our fencers who competed at the Monrovia Epee Youth Challenge back in December. This tournament is a great intro tournament and exposes all youth fencers to the competition circuit!
We had some great finishes from brand new first timers as well as some more experienced fencers as well. In Y14 Mixed Epee, youth 12 fencer, Stafford Moosekian, fenced well and went undefeated for the day with a Gold finish! He was followed closely by newcomer Brian Ferrante who finished a respectable 5th place overall! Great job you guys and keep up the good work! In Y12 Mixed Epee, Jackson Norbutas finished in the top 8 with a 5th place finish! Great job! In Y10 Mixed Epee, our smallest and youngest group competed against the more experienced and older y10 fencers to a strong overall finish. Darius Kim finished 5th and Thien Scofield followed behind him with a 6th place finish. The beginning girls fought hard and did well. Zoe Kim placed 9th followed by Isabel Kim in 10th. This was Isabel's first tournament after fencing for about a month! She had early jitters but came out with a really close direct elimination bout against a much more experienced fencer losing 10-7! Great job girls and boys! Keep trying and moving forward!
