Sorry for the late results post, but it's a been a busy few months! Here's to recap both the November NAC in Milwuakee, WI and the December NAC in Richmond, VA!
In Milwaukee, we had several fencers come out to fence in Y10, Y14, Cadet, & Junior events! Day 1 Cadet Men's Epee Emon Daroian finished in 30th after a tough loss in the round of 32. Rough start to the tournament, but it can only get better! Results 30. Emon Daroian 41. Aidan Kung 46. Thomas Park 76. Christopher Kim 125. Spencer Dingman 142. Thomas Moore 155. Stafford Moosekian out of 222 fencers Y10 Men's Epee Thien Scofield came all the way out to Milwaukee to compete in the missed Y10 event due to the Dallas Shootings in July. He had a late start in his pools and ended up losing his first DE 9-10! Way to not give up! We look forward to seeing what the future has in store for this little hardworker. Results 37. Thien Scofield out of 40 fencers Day 2 Y14 Men's Epee After a strong 6-0 pool finish, Stafford Moosekian lost his top 64 DE 14-15. It was a tough loss, but many great lessons were learned in the process. Good job to Thomas Moore for trying his best in his first NAC and making it out of pools and losing his first DE 13-14 as well. Results 34. Stafford Moosekian 81. Thomas Moore out of 119 fencers Y10 Women's Epee Like Thien, Zoe and Isabel came out to make up for the Dallas Shootings. They were the 2 youngest and smallest in the field! Zoe did well in the pools and finished with a record of 4-1, but lost her DE 8-10. Great try girls! They didn't give up! Results 13. Zoe Kim 24. Isabel Kim out of 24 fencers Cadet Women's Epee It was a tough day for the girls. Irene Yeu lost in the round of 64 to the 3rd seeded out of pools fencer and Kristen Kim lost her first DE to the more experienced Emily Gao. Amanda Dingman had a hard time in her first Cadet NAC, but she fought hard and is only 13! Back to work and hopefully to a better Junior finish. Results 56. Irene Yeu 97. Kristen Kim 145. Amanda Dingman out of 164 fencers Day 3 Junior Men's Epee All 9 of the boys made it out of pools making both coaches run around! Stephen Ewart lost a close 14-15 bout in the 8s to finish 7th overall and Emon Daroian lost to eventual Bronze medalist, Wesley Johnson, in the 16s. Overall, a great finish for the boys. Results 7. Stephen Ewart Jr 11. Emon Daroian 95. Thomas Park 132. Spencer Dingman 133. Fulun Shen 138. Zhao Chen 146. Stafford Moosekian 155. Aidan Kung 164. Christopher Kim out of 260 fencers Y14 Women's Epee Irene Yeu had a strong finish and worked on her coaches' suggestions to come away with the BRONZE medal after losing to the eventual Gold Medalist! Great job overall! Results 3rd. Irene Yeu 93. Amanda Dingman out of 96 fencers Day 4 Junior Women's Epee Emily Beihold came away with her first top 32 finish of the season with win after win! Great job on earning those national points! Results 32. Emily Beihold 92. Irene Yeu 96. Rachel Bang 116. Olivia Xu (St. John's) out of 176 fencers Congrats to all the medalists and top 32 finishers and we hope to see everyone back in the studio training for the next event! December NAC - Richmond, VA Day 1 Vet 40 Women's Epee Michele Chimienti came out strong and finished a respectable 11th out of 23 fencers. Even though it may not be where she wanted to finish, we were glad to see her back in competition mode. Keep it up Michele! Vet 60 Women's Epee Mary Huang finished with a 6th place medal after losing to the eventual Gold Medalist out of 20 fencers. Great job Mary! Div I Men's Epee After trying out the 2- day format, our fencers had some rough times but came away with some good finishes. Joey Rafidi finished 16th and has finished in the top 16 or better this entire season. Way to go for consistency! Results 16. Joey Rafidi 23. Stephen Ewart Jr 64. Emon Daroian 88. Fulun Shen 237. Zhao Chen out of 243 fencers Day 2 Vet Combined Women's Epee Both Mary and Michele fell short of the medal rounds, but Mary finished a solid 10th place with Michele close behind in 17th out of 69 fencers. Great job! Div IA Men's Epee Zhao Chen, after having trouble with his finger, finished in 103rd out of 146 fencers. Congrats to everyone and we look forward to the future. anks for sharing the article, and more importantly, your personal experience mindfully using our emotions as data about our inner state and knowing when it’s better to de-escalate by taking a time out are great tools. Appreciate you reading and sharing your story since I can certainly relate and I think others can to
